Summary
Tapestry, wool and silk, A Coronation, Flemish, possibly Oudenaarde, c. 1600-1625. King Solomon is seated on his throne on the left, and is approached by two women, one holding a baby. A dead baby lies on the ground by the throne. There are borders on all four sides with lilies and other flowers growing among leaves, and oval cartouches at the centre of each border. The tapestry is unlined and there are open slits and holes in the surface.

Purchased by the National Trust at the Canons Ashby Auction of Dryden Artefacts on the 4.7.1980 with the help of a grant from the Purchase Grant Fund
