Summary
A mahogany collector's cabinet, English, early 19th century. Inlaid throughout with holly and ebonized holly lines. The upright cornice with central tablet and upright ends above a pair of paneled doors enclosing thirty-two drawers (in two banks of sixteen), above a further pair of paneled drawers enclosing twenty-two drawers (in two banks of eleven), on outswept bracket feet.
Provenance
Thought to have been used by Sir Henry Dryden, 4th Bt. (1818 - 1899), and called 'Henry's chest'. Left Canons Ashby at an unknown date but returned from Northampton Central Library in 1996.
