Summary
A walnut and walnut-veneered chair, English, circa 1730-40. Probably originally with a cane seat. The curved toprail above a baluster-shaped splat with unusual pierced upper section, above a stuff-over seat later upholstered in later crimson velveteen. Raised to the front on a pair of cabriole legs headed by scroll-carved ears and with applied bead mouldings beneath the knee and on pad feet. The rear supports outswept.
