Summary
One of two bowls, porcelain, large, of deep form with outward flaring rim, painted in the imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron-red, with two shaped panels of flowering trees, the tree friends of winter pine prunus and bamboo, alternating with phoenix in flight, heightened with gold, Arita, Japan, c.1890.
