Summary
Oil painting on panel, A Florentine Youth, after Agnolo Bronzino (Monticelli 1503 – Florence 1572), 1927. A copy of an original painting in the Egremont Private collection at Petworth which was sold in 1927 but bought back in 1980s. A head-and-shoulders portrait of a youth, turned slightly to the left, with black hair, dark hazel eyes, white collar and black doublet against a rose curtain. There is some resemblance to the Garcia de' Medici portrait at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. Another version is currently on loan to the National Gallery which included a statue of Bacchus that relates to the unidentified sitter.

A copy of the original which was possibly from Sir William Drummond (1770-1828) sale, June 25, 1824 (34), bought Piazetti; in the collection of the 3rd Earl of Egremont (1751-1837) by 1835 and thence by descent until 1927 when it was sold to the Robert W.Reford Collection, Montreal (and when this copy was made) but was bought back by Lord Egremont in 1980s and is now in the private possession of Lord Egremont in the White Library.
