Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Brighton from the Sea by Joseph Mallord William Turner, RA (London 1775 - Chelsea 1851), circa 1829/30. The Front stretches across the middle distance, seen over the Chain Pier with, at centre distance, a mill on the downs. At the end of the pier, on the left are sailing boats and vegetables are floating in the right-hand corner whilst the setting sun throws a wake down the centre.
