Summary
Pewter measure with leaf form hinge to lid, impressed on lid 'IH' within heart and circle of measure splayed out, engraved on side with Browne family emblems and on handle 'BBE 1704' (George and Ellinor Browne). "Capacity 16.45floz (average of two measurements). The base has been tapped down from the inside to increase the original capacity, therefore believed to have been 16floz when originally made or the Ancient Guild Hall gallon. The mark IH is either the marking of John Harvey or John Hardman of Wigan. The pewter measure has been casted in two parts, the body one part and then the handle attached."
