Summary
Marble fire surround. Comprise the two jambs, the lintel which has a diagonal joint and part of the right hand plinth block. All elements are worked from a rich red/brown marble with heavy white veining, it has variously been identified as Languedoc/ French Red or Rouge Griotte from Namur in Belgium. DIMENSIONS: Lintel 1425 x 80 x 235mm Jambs 235 x 80 x 760mm Plinth, part 175 x 75 x 175mm In addition to this there are other pieces of marble fire surround.
Provenance
Indigenous collection purchased by Ministry of Works in 1954 and given to Dyrham Park in 1961.
