Caption
Margaret was the second daughter of Henry Chandos-Pole-Gell of Hopton Hall, Derby. She married Robert Wynter Blathwayt (1850–1936) in 1879. Her husband went on to inherit Dyrham Park on the death of his father in 1909.

A three-quarter-length portrait of Margaret Ermintrude Chandos-Pole-Gell, wife of Robert Wynter Blathwayt. The sitter is shown seated in a red-upholstered chair, facing the viewer but with her head turned slightly to the right. She wears a white evening dress with a black lace scarf around her shoulders and a pink rose at her waist. The portrait is paired with Francis Crisp's portrait of her husband.

Presumably commissioned by Robert Wynter Blathwayt (1850-1936); thence by descent; Indigenous collection purchased by Ministry of Works in 1956 and given to Dyrham Park in 1961
