Summary
Longcase clock, by Isaac Goddard, London. Silvered chapter ring, gilt cherub and crown spandels; the case (formerly lacquered) painted black, domed hood with frets; waist door with 'bull's eye'. c.1695. Britten’s lists Goddard as apprenticed to Samuel Davis 1675, then to Thos. Grimes, he finished 1 Dec. 1684. Made longcase clocks. CC 1684-99. Loomes lists in The Early Clockmakers of Great Britain that Goddard was born 1661, freed December 1684. Took Apprentices in 1687 William Lockin, then in 1692 Benjamin Goddard. Goddard may have worked for Stantons, not heard of after 1699. Known to have made longcase clocks.
