Full description
Double barrelled flintlock sporting gun, Liege/France, c1780. Iron side-by-side iron barrels of rounded form, with slightly flattened sides at the breech, joined together by a top rib; the underside with 2 ramrod pipes. The barrel tang is formed with a hollowed sighting groove. Retained to the stock by 2 barrel slides. The ramrod is missing. Barrel length: 89.5cm Calibre: 16mm. Wooden half stock, the butt of slightly drooping form with chequered wrist. Engraved tutenag (German silver) furniture comprising; butt plate and trigger guard with decorative finial. Double curved triggers, one of very small form. Engraved right and left hand flintlocks with flat plates and stepped tails. Flat cocks and faceted flashpans. Retained to the stock by 2 sidenails. Overall length: 128.3cm

Indigenous collection purchased by Ministry of Works in 1956 and given to National Trust in 1961.
