Summary
One of a pair of Chelsea-Derby candlestick groups, this one described on the front of the scroll base as 'The Vain Jackdaw'. A standing peacock in colours; a squatting peacock in colours with, in his beak, a feather of the third bird, which is painted in tones of mauve. The background is flowering may tree supporting a pair of candle nozzles. 1770 - 1775
