Chelsea figure of Calliope (epic poetry). Part of a set of Apollo and the Nine Muses, with its emblem, superbly coloured and supported on lobed quadrangular base painted with butterflies, flowers and bearing the name. Maker's mark - gold anchor figure. 1765 (circa).
