Summary
Fine Chelsea Group with youth and a girl, the former in puce coat and yellow breeches, seated by a tree trunk; the girl, in white flowered dress lined in yellow with red bows at the breast and on her sleeves and red ribbon on her head, is seated on the ground; a birdcage between the two; probably one of a pair of 'Courtship' and 'Matrimony'. Maker's mark - red anchor mark. 1755 (circa).
