Summary
One of a pair of Flemish silver gilt altar candlesticks on shaped triangular plinths and paw feet surmounted by winged cherubs' busts and chased with panels of Saints on matted ground, the baluster stems chased with cherubs' masks, fruit and acanthus foliage, the waxpans similarly decorated, engraved beneath one of the feet and round the bases with Latin inscriptions similar to that on the preceding English alms dish recording their presentation by Henry Cust for the Chapel at Belton House 1818. Unmarked, dated 1643.
