Summary
A set of four William and Mary pilgrim bottles of oval forms on moulded feet. The bodies engraved with two coats-of-arms (Brownlow impaling Sherard and Tyrconnel) are chased with flowers, shells and scroll-work on matted ground. The necks chased with acanthus and palm leaves, screw stoppers surmounted by tall bracketed baluster finials joined by chains to grotesque satyr masks applied to the shoulders. Circa 1690. One bottle bears traces of full hallmarks under the base (1683?) and with lion passant on shoulder, the others apparently have no hallmarks. Decoration of necks original, of bodies and feet early 19th century. Thought to be by Paul de Lamerie.
