Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Maud Buckle, Lady Brownlow (d.1936) by Sir Frank Owen Salisbury, RA (Harpenden 1874 - 1962), signed and dated 1925. A three-quarter-length portrait, standing, in a black dress and red shawl, left hand on hip and right hand holding a fan. She was the daughter of Captain S. Buckle of the Royal Engineers. On 5th October 1895 she married Adelbert Salusbury Cockayne Cust, 5th Baron Brownlow 1(867 - 1927) who at that time had no especial prospect of succeeding to the title and lived at Cockfosters, in 1895.Their three children were: Elizabeth Barbara Cust (1896 - 1913), Peregrine Francis Adelbert Cust, 6th Baron Brownlow (1899 - 1978) and Sarah Marie Adelaide Cust (1906 - 1992) who married Edward Jan Hoos.
