Summary
Pastel on paper, Sir Henry Bankes (1711-1774) by William Hoare of Bath, RA (Eye 1707 – Bath 1792), circa 1750. A half-length portrait of the father of Frances Bankes, Lady Brownlow (1756-1847) and father-in-law of Sir Brownlow Cust (1744-1807), wearing a bright blue coat, yellow waistcoat and grey wig. Sir Henry Bankes was an Alderman of the City of London. Married Frances Pembroke; father of Frances Bankes, Lady Brownlow (1756-1847).
