Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on card, The Hon. John Drummond, 1st Earl (and titular) Duke of Melfort (1649-1714/15), French School c.1705. Head and shoulders portrait of a young man, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator over his left shoulder, dressed in a scarlet cloak with the Badge of the Garter presented to him by James II in exile. Brown eyes, long black wig, fresh complexion. Bright blue background.
