Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Frances Bankes, Lady Brownlow (1756 – 1847) as a Child by Henry Singleton, (London 1766 - London 1839).Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a young child, turned to the right, head facing, gazing at the spectator, in a white dress and blue hat with whie roses. Blue eyes, long fair hair, pale greenish complexion. Plain grey background. Frances Bankes, Lady Brownlow was the daughter of Sir Henry Bankes (1711-1774) an alderman and merchant of London and Frances Pembrooke; married in 1775 as his second wife, Sir Brownlow Cust, 1st Baron Brownlow of Belton (1744-1807) and brought with her a dowry of £100,000, and a collection of her father's pictures. She also bore him eleven children
