Summary
A rosewood, ebonised cedar, ivory inlaid tortoiseshell marquetry cabinet on stand, Italian, mid 17th century. With fifteen various sized drawers. The centre with an architectural niche inlaid with an ivory panel engraved with St George and the Dragon below the sacred Monogram. The remaining drawers inlaid with red tortoise shell and on ivory ground with foliate scrolls. The lower left and lower right with architectural fronts engraved with saints. Mounted on a later stand with square tapering legs.

Purchased with a grant from the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) from Edward John Peregrine Cust, 7th Baron Brownlow (b.1936) in 1984.
