Summary
One of a pair of deep bowls (for its pair see NT 493311), porcelain, round, Arita, Hizen Province, Japan, c. 1690, decorated in the Imari palette in underglaze blue and overglaze red and green enamels and gold, with on the exterior chrysanthemums and peonies growing from rocky ground, in the centre of the interior a circular cartouche with a Chinese carnation, and a band around the rim with alternating rosettes, chevrons and floral and foliate scrollwork.

A very similar bowl is in the National Gallery Prague (Národní galerie Praha), inv. no. Vu 2205 (where a lid is also mentioned).
