Summary
Silver medal commemorating Queen Victoria's visit to Aston Hall, Birmingham, on 15 June 1858. Obverse has young head of Victoria facing left within central medallion with 'Victoria Regina God Save The Queen' inscribed around it. Above and below are the words, 'To commemorate the visit of Her Most Gracious Majesty to Birmingham on the 15th June 1858, to open Aston Hall and Park as a place of public recreation. John Ratcliff Esq. Mayor.' Reverse has scene of Aston Hall and is inscribed 'Aston Hall, began 1618. Completed 1635. Bought (with 43 acres of park) by the people of Birmingham' and with maker's mark 'J. Moore F Birmingham'. Part of a box set (see NT/HUG/V/30a-h).
