Oil painting on canvas, James Howard Harris, 3rd Earl of Malmesbury, PC, DCL, GCB (1807-1889), aged 44 by James Godsell Middleton (1805 – London 1874), inscribed on column left: 1852./ AET. 44. A three-quarter-length portrait, standing, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing heavy cloak thrown over right shoulder, left hand pulls it closer. At viewer's right, table with blue box with royal initials on it surmounted by crown. Piece of paper under box reads 'The Earl of Malmesbury/ Foreign Office'.

Possibly presented by sitter to Disraeli; given to the National Trust with Hughenden Manor by the Disraelian Society, 1947
