Full-length portrait of Viscount Stanhope in his study at 40 Grosvenor Place. Sitting reading at a table with books, papers, and a clock supported by an elephant in a bell jar. Drawing room revealed beyond where woman in blue gown stands with one hand raised to small ornamental bookshelf.
