Summary
Oil painting on canvas (oval), Mary Ann Viney-Evans, Viscountess Beaconsfield (1792-1872) by James Godsell Middleton (1805 – London 1874). An oval half-length portrait of Disraeli's wife, facing, gazing at the spectator, wearing drop earrings, with blue ribbon round forehead and pink fringed and patterned shawl with orange, red, turquoise and black decoration. This is an idealised portrait painted for Disraeli from a miniature by Henry Rodrigues (NT/HUG/P/31) after Mary Anne's death.
