Summary
Photograph NO. 29. LAT. 79° 25’ N. WALRUS KILLED IN FRANKLIN PEARCE BAY, 10TH AUG. 1875. Black and white albumin photograph mounted on card. Mount has handwritten ‘29’ at top, and ‘London Stereoscopic and Photographic Company, 110 and 108, Regent Street, and 54, Cheapside.’ printed near bottom. Photograph depicts large walrus with two large tusks, dead on snow. Individual poses behind it holding a spear (?) Behind him jutting out from the left of the photograph is the bow of the ship with the jibboom visible and a rope ladder extending down to the ground. Instruments lie in the foreground of the photograph on the snow in front of the walrus.
