Summary
A letter addressed to Lord Beaconsfield, dated 4 July 1877, pinned to the inside lid of the presentation box (428862.1). The letter reads ‘The Secretary of the Admiralty presents his compliments to the Earl of Beaconsfield and by desire of the Lords of the Admiralty begs to forward for his acceptance a collection of Photographs taken during the recent Arctic Expedition.’
Provenance
Presented to Benjamin Disraeli by the Admirality 4th July, 1877. Presumably in thanks for Disraeli's endorsement of the expedition during his second term as Prime Minister (1874-1880). See main record (428862) for more provenance details.
