Summary
One of a pair of earthenware pitchers, brown Doulton with silver lustre rim and base, decorated in white relief with Benjamin Disraeli's bust and coronet. Inscribed on one side 'Born Dec. 21st 1804. Died Apr. 19th 1881. I will sit down now but the time will come when you will hear me. House of Commons 7 Dec. 1837'. Inscribed on other side 'Benjamin Disraeli, Earl of Beaconsfield. I have begun several things many times and I have often succeeded at last'. Number of marks on bases, including 'Doulton, Lambeth' and 'John Mortlock and Co, Oxford Street, London'. In addition, NT/HUG/C/15b has 'W' etched on base.
