Summary
A brass studded and iron bound leather covered carriage trunk, by I. Emes, London, late 18th century / early 19th century. The domed lid with a simple brass studded geometric design and the initials J.B. The inside lined with book pages from 'Temerlane' and printed with dot grids, bearing the paper label for I. Emes, iron handles to the sides.

Little is known of I. Emes at 107 Great Russell Street although there is reference to J. Emes next door at no.108. The Dictionary of British and Irish Furniture Makers Online lists J. Eams as a trunk and platecase manufacturer in 1837. (James Weedon, May 2019)
