Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Emma Cornewall, Mrs Thomas Vernon (1711-1777) by Vera Stanley Alder (Eglingham 1898 - 1984), 1930. A half-length portrait of a lady, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, her hair dressed with pearls and a scarf which falls over her left shoulder and is looped through pearls at her bosom. She is wearing a green silk dress with gathered sleeves, a small ruffled lace band at her neck and drop-pearl earrings. Copied from a miniature in the Hanbury Hall collection.
