Summary
Group with a shepherdess playing mandolin to a lamb, one of pair of candlestick groups of shepherd and shepherdess, soft paste porcelain, enamelled and gilt, the single candle nozzle supported at the side of bocages. A '2' is marked in puce enamel. At the front of the Rococo bases of each figure is a mark resembling a cross within a square. Chelsea-Derby, about 1780. Pair to HAN.C.48a
