Summary
A plume and box. Plume of long green/brown feathers fixed to a central stick. Part of the uniform of the Royal Company of Archers, the Soveriegn's ceremonial bodyguard in Scotland. Circa early 19th Century. BL89.4* Cylindrical metal box, lidded at both ends with small buckle fastenings. Painted black with red splodges. Hand-written fabric label attached at one end marked "Marquis of Lothian, Passenger to London via Paris". For storing plume. BL89.11*

Part of the Lothian Collection. The Hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1940 by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940).
