Summary
Fire grate. c.1770. Carron grate. Cast iron. Side boxes with relief design of a flaming burner on a rams head tripod stand with a snake wrapped around one of legs, within an oval frame surround suspended by ribbon from garlands and festoons above. Centre grate with 4 serpentine burnished steel bars and vertically pierced grills below.
Provenance
Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940).
