Summary
Month going English striking longcase clock by Nathaniel Hodges, London, circa 1695. 2 train 4 pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside locking plate striking. 11 in square base dial with cherub and scroll spandrels, silvered chapter ring, signed Nath Hodges Londini feint and seconds dial, ringed winding holes and engraved calendar aperture in matted dial centre. Case of floral marquetry and burr elm veneer on oak. Flat top hood with twisted columns and convex mouldings. Trunk door with pendulum lenticle and marquetry panel to plinth. Note; Escapement, some wheelwork, base and feet to plinth and minute hand are later. Hood was originally rising.
