Print, engraving, Pyramid of Gaius Cestius, Rome by Giovanni Battista Piranesi (Mogliano 1720 – Rome 1778). Pyramid amongst ruined buildings, trees, columns, figures in foreground. Inscribed l.r. 'Piramide di C. Cestio'., with key to 5 numbered features. Within original border, with two reproduction ribbon bows. From a collection of 52 prints, C18, affixed around the walls of the Print Room. The 2nd Earl's mausoleum in the park was inspired by this Roman tomb.
