Hand-coloured etching. Les Chanteuses du Mois de May by Sigmund Freudenberger (Bern 1745 – Bern 1801). French. C18. A village scene with figures outside, one holding a may garland. Signed l.l. 'S. Freudenberger fecit'. Gilt beaded frame, mounted and glazed.
Provenance
Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940).
