Summary
Biscuit porcelain group. William Duesbury, Derby, c.1775. Group of 'Air', one of two from 'The Four Elements', unglazed soft-paste porcelain (biscuit), modelled by Nicolas-Joseph-Francois Gauron. A putto sliding down a tree-trunk having robbed a bird's next, while two companions wait by birdcage cage for the fledgling bird. 1 dove at base. Bird's nest at top of tree with 3 fledglings. Incised on base 'N 48'. Patch marks.
