Summary
Circular lid. Meiji period, Japan, 1860-1900. Cloisonne enamel inlaid domed lid with design of red, blue and green stylised flowers. With ivory finial knob decorated with insects - earwig, cricket, fly, ladybird and beetle (mother-of-pearl). Red lacquer underside.
Provenance
Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940).
