Summary
Circular lid. Meiji period, Japan, 1860-1900. Cloisonne metal inlaid domed lid, with ivory finial knob decorated with insects - ladybird, grasshopper, beetle, dragonfly (mother-of-pearl) and moth. Red lacquer underside.
Provenance
Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940).
