Summary
Chinese Qianlong porcelain fish bowl or cistern. Circa 1735-55. Decorated on outside with pairs of phoenix, other birds and stylized hibiscus, passionflowers and tree peonies and inside with carp, goldfish and water ferns, with crab and 3 prawns. Gilded mask handles, (one handle damaged). A similar cistern is at Wallington, Northumberland, NT 581662.
Provenance
Introduced to Blickling after 1930. Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940)
