Christ is seen crucified on the cross in the centre with a detailed landscape background including an estuary of a river and sea beyond with ships. Mountains and a town can be seen in the distance on the right and a castle and a forest on the left. There ia a manor house in the middle ground on the right. At the top, Christ's head and outstretched arms are surrounded by a dark mandorla formed by the heads of cherubim. At the foot of the cross stand the Virgin, on the left, and St John, on the right, with the Mary Magdalen, in a silver silk dress clutching it at Christ's feet. The skull and bones and the chalice are placed in the foreground.
