Summary
Massive oak travelling chest with iron strap, carrying handles and lock. According to Victor Chinnery (2004): A large Baltic oak strongbox or chest, the three-plank lid with mitred cleats rising on three long strap hinges, the body of thick dovetailed boards with wrought iron corner-braces and carrying handles to each end, the front fitted with a heavy lock plate. English or German, late sixteenth century
