Full description
Wheellock pistol, Dutch, c1640-50. Almost forms a pair with 347345. Iron barrel formed in 2 stages, octagonal at he breech to round at the muzzle. Retained to the stock by 2 barrel pins. Barrel length 48.3cm. Calibre 14mm. Ebony (?) fullstock of slender form. Embossed brass furniture comprising; pommel cap with a “stand of arms” motif, fore-end cap and 1 ramrod pipe. Iron loop shape trigger guard. Wooden ramrod with an embossed brass tip. Underside of stock stamped with the number 113. Curved trigger. Wheellock with rounded form plate, exposed wheel with a single retaining bracket, pan-release button and sliding pan cover. Retained to the stock by 3 sidenails (1 missing).
