Full description
Flintlock military Short Land Pattern musket, England c1730. Round iron barrel, the breech with a turned moulding and stamped with a crowned GR and crossed sceptres (Kings proof). Bayonet lug mounted at the muzzle. Retained to the stock by 3 barrel pins. Iron ramrod, the tip missing. Barrel length 117.5cm Calibre 20mm. Walnut full stock with hand-rail form butt and a carved apron to barrel tang. Brass furniture comprising; butt-plate, escutcheon, trigger guard (the sling swivel missing) and 3 ramrod pipes. Flintlock, the banana-shaped plate engraved with GR and Crown, the tail engraved TOWER and with traces of a date (indistinct). Retained to the stock by 2 side-nails. Overall length 158cm
