Full description
Matchlock gun of unusual length and form, Coorg, India, 18th century. Damascus twist iron barrel formed in 2 stages, octagonal to round, with an integral flash-pan, the muzzle with decorative shaping. Raised brass rear sight. Retained to the stock by 8 steel barrel bands. Barrel length: 167.2cm. Calibre 7mm. Wooden full stock with short hook-shaped butt of characteristic form, the underside decorated with brass studs and inlaid wire. Iron ramrod, the tip damaged. The lock missing. Overall length: 200cm
