Summary
A 17th Century (1629) polychrome overmantle of three bays on two levels over a gadrooned mantle. The upper tier of square panels, the central one carries the arms of Ferrers and Hampden and is flanked by two deep recessed moulded panels with dentilled surrounds. These panels are divided by four Herms (male figures) on elaborate scrolled pedestals. The lower bays of arcaded panels with strapwork and stylised egg and dart moulding are divided by chevron decorated pilasters topped with gadrooned Ionic capitals. Over fireplace 3437208
