Ceramic Staffordshire King John (1167-1216) Signing Magna Carta, Staffordshire Pottery. Full-length Staffordshire figure of King John, sitting in a tent, crowned, and with both hands on a document (Magna Carta). At each side a page standing, with a flag above him.

Provenance

part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
