Summary
Ceramic, Staffordshire, Amelia Bloomer, Mrs Dexter Bloomer (1818 - 1894), Staffordshire Pottery. Full-length Staffordshire figure of Amelia Bloomer, Mrs Dexter Bloomer (1818 - 1894), standing in a very broad-brimmed hat with two feathers. Over a knee-length Turkish trousers. socks and green shoes. Sash round her waist, with one end over her left shoulder and the other clasped by her left hand agaist her side. Right hand holds a cigar in front of her left breast.
Provenance
part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
