Summary
Ceramic, Staffordshire, Sailors of the Cremean priming a Cannon, Staffordshire Pottery. Two full-length Staffordshire figures, non-portraittrait of Crimean sailors, one with hisright hand raised to his hat, left leg on a platform and right foot raised on a cannon. The o ther sailor kneeling on his left knee, left arm resting on the cannon his right hand ramming a shell into its muzzle (left).
Provenance
part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
